UC Irvine Tri Kick-starts 2012 Season!

7 members of the TriJuniors program kicked off the 2012 season at UC Irvine last Saturday, competing against many collegiate triathletes, and other high school triathletes from all over Southern California.

The race was a backward triathlon, starting with a 5K run, to a 11.5 mile bike, to 500 yard pool swim.

Tristan Bunch lead the boys, with his 4th place finish OVERALL, competing strong against some of the top collegiate triathletes in the country, at just 15 years of age! He won his age group, High School 15-17.

Jessica Tomasek lead the girls, with an 8th place overall finish among all women, and 1st in the High School 15-17 division. She is also only 15!

TriJuniors athlete, Katarina LaJeunesse, competed for UCSB, as she's a freshman on the team there, finishing 6th overall.

Leslie Zhang won the 14 & Under division, and he sister Heather finished 3rd. These two beat many collegiate females!

Other great performances came from Spencer Lewis, Will McCaughan, and Daniel Fennell, who all competed very strongly against a great contingent of collegiate teams and athletes.
