TriJuniors at the Olympic Training Center

This past weekend, we took 11 of our TriJuniors athletes to the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, to get some excellent bike practice on the closed criterium course. This 1 km, technical course is entirely closed off from cars, and allows the athletes to work on turning, shifting, pace-lines, pack riding, and even brick intervals with a T1/bike/T2/run, without any outside dangers. Needless to say, the kids had a great time, and are looking forward to our other 5 sessions at the center. Below are some photos from the day.

What an outstanding event today at the F1 Junior and Youth races at Fiesta Island!!! Over 50 kids competed, and it was an impressive display of abilities and competitiveness! Here are the top 3 in the 4 divisions, with TriJuniors athletes in bold italics...

TriJuniors at Spring Sprint Tri 2011

TriJuniors had 7 athletes compete this past weekend at the Spring Sprint Triathlon in San Diego, at South Shores. There were 33 athletes competing in the junior age groups, (13-15 and 16-19), and TriJuniors athlete finished:

F1 Series in San Diego in 2011!

TriJuniors is proud to sponsor in conjunction with the Triathlon Club of San Diego, a draft-legal race series at Fiesta Island, called F1. The races will take place on March 20th, April 3rd, and May 15th.

The races are a 2-lap, 300 meter swim, followed by a draft-legal 3-lap, 12K bike, to a 2-lap, 2K run.

You do NOT have to be a Triathlon Club of San Diego member, NOR a member of TriJuniors to participate. This event is the perfect race to get some basic draft-legal racing experience, should an athlete want to pursue racing in the elite races at the USAT Junior Nationals here in San Diego in August.

TriJuniors Now Provides Bikes!

When we started the TriJuniors program, we knew the challenges we would face with kids and the sport of triathlon. The sport is financially challenging, considering the costs of equipment. Parents don't want to drop $1000+ just to see if their kids will like the sport.

Many families who have kids who might very well love the sport, might never be able to give their kids the opportunity to try it, simply because of cost.

I am very proud to announce that as of today, we can offer a Focus road bike to any kid in our program, FREE OF CHARGE! Any child who wants to be on our team, and is a member in good standing, has a bike to ride, if they need it.

We'd like to thank Focus Bikes for their generous sponsorship, in making this happen!
